The Airing of NFT Grievances

Hello NFTphiles!

We are now two days away from peak Festivus and things are beginning to slow down here on Know Your NFTs headquarters for the holidays. So let us begin with the airing of our NFT grievances and feed the Crypto grinch inside of us.

Let’s start with some of the big backlashes in the recent few days of NFT drops and the rise of NFT culture.

The rocky start of the Adidas NFT

“Mutant Ape NFT holders – who had early access to the drop – could not complete their transactions after they had already paid gas fees for the digital collectibles. The brand briefly paused the highly-anticipated NFT launch “while the developers investigated issues,” Adidas tweeted.  “

Well to be honest, it was kind of a mess. However it is the third largest NFT drop ever so that was an achievement considering the mainstream brand was involved.

Brian Eno is not too keen on

“Though he does think it’s sweet that “now artists can become little capitalist assholes as well,” Eno says that if he “primarily wanted to make money,” he would have a “different career as a different kind of person.” Although to be fair, Eno did apologize for his cynicism. He’s “not feeling too positive right now.” Hard to fault him for that. “

From musician accounts of Brian Eno, it seems he’s kind of a jerk but also a bit of a pioneer genius.

No one cares about Unisoft’s Tezos

“Ubisoft’s Digits are part of its Ubisoft Quartz “experience, and instead of slightly different pictures of poorly drawn monkeys, Digits are in-game cosmetic items with unique serial numbers. The initial offering, distributed free to players who met certain playtime or account level requirements, include a gun skin that requires players reach XP level five, a pair of pants requiring 100 hours played, and a mask only obtainable by spending 600 hours in a game that was a complete disaster at launch.”

The backlash of this NFT announcement has been epic for its massive negative reaction by the gaming community.

Enough of the grievances, NOW it is time for feet of strength !

Here are data points and glossaries that demonstrate the surging rise of NFT’s as an investment class but also as a pop culture and mimetic force to be reckoned with in 2022.
